MARATHON VALID AS THE 2026 FIDAL OFFICIAL REGIONAL INDIVIDUAL MASTER CHAMPIONSHIP

REGULATIONS

The sports association A.S.D. Polisportiva Marsala Doc, under the patronage of the Municipality of Marsala and with the auspices of FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation), organizes the 2nd edition of the “Sigel Marsala Marathon – Garibaldian City”, a 42.195 km road race.

The race, included in the FIDAL National Calendar, will take place in Marsala on Sunday, April 26. Judges and athletes will gather from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM in Piazza della Vittoria, where the race will start at 8:45 AM.

Race bibs and race kits may be collected:

Saturday, April 25: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Sunday, April 26: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
at Piazza della Vittoria (start/finish area).

START TIME: 8:45 AM

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Athletes Registered in Italy

According to FIDAL event regulations, participation is open to Italian and foreign athletes who are at least 20 years old by December 31, 2025 and belong to one of the following categories:

Athletes registered for 2026 with clubs affiliated with FIDAL.
Athletes holding a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and competition permit), provided they submit:
- A valid competitive medical certificate specifically for athletics.
- Foreign athletes may present a certificate issued in their own country, provided it includes the tests required by Italian law:
  - Medical examination
  - Complete urine test
  - Resting and stress ECG
  - Spirometry
Athletes registered with a Sports Promotion Body (Athletics section) holding a Runcard-EPS, subject to the same medical certification requirements listed above.

Athletes NOT Registered in Italy

Italian or foreign athletes not registered in Italy may participate if aged 20 or older and meeting one of the following conditions:

Membership with clubs affiliated to foreign athletics federations recognized by World Athletics (WA).
- A self-certification of membership must be presented and signed in original when collecting the race bib.
Holders of a Runcard, together with a valid competitive medical certificate (same requirements listed above).

Participation Notes

Anyone not registered or without a race bib is not allowed to run on the course and will be asked to leave.
Coaches or companions may not follow the course by bicycle or other vehicles. Violations may result in athlete disqualification and legal action.
The event will be supervised by the Trapani Race Judges Group.
Each athlete will receive an electronic timing chip to wear during the race and return at the finish. Failure to return it will result in a €20 charge.

Institutional Championship fee: €20 (does NOT include race kit or gadget)
Fee including race kit and gadget: €30

Promotion (3+1)

For every three paid registrations from the same club, one free race bib is granted (maximum one per club). The free bib may be transferred to an athlete from another club if necessary.

Promotion valid until March 23, 2026.

Registrations open September 15, 2025 via www.endu.net.

❗ No registrations will be accepted on race day.

Registrations without payment, FIDAL membership number, or competitive medical certificate (for Runcard holders) will not be accepted.

👉 The payment date — not the submission date — determines registration validity.

Entry transfers to another race are allowed upon payment of a €10 administrative fee (non-refundable difference).

Bib Collection, Race Kit, Course & Awards

Bibs, chips, and race kits will be delivered collectively to a club representative.
Medals will be awarded at the finish to all finishers.

Course Certification

Measured in compliance with World Athletics regulations.

Maximum Time

6 hours. After this limit, full road closure cannot be guaranteed.

Course Rules

Most of the course will be closed to traffic. Open areas will be controlled by local police, law enforcement, and volunteers.

Timing and rankings are managed by EvoData s.r.l. All chips must be returned at the finish.

Awards

1st overall female
1st overall male
Top three athletes in every FIDAL category (male & female)
Award to the club with the highest total number of registered athletes (marathon + half marathon)

Awards ceremony: 12:30 PM in Piazza della Vittoria.
Prizes are cumulative and must be collected during the ceremony.

Complaints

Must comply with FIDAL and technical regulations.

Event Cancellation

If the race is canceled, postponed, or not held due to reasons beyond the organizers’ control (including revoked permits), participants are not entitled to refunds or compensation.

Registration may be transferred to the new date or the following year’s race.

Data Processing (GDPR)

Personal data is collected for registration, rankings, historical archives, and informational material.
Failure to provide data results in exclusion from the event.

Participants may review, modify, or delete their data by contacting A.S.D. Marsala DOC.

Image Rights

By registering, athletes authorize the organizers and partners to use photos and videos taken during the event for promotional purposes worldwide, within legal limits.

Athlete Responsibility

Athletes are responsible for their race bib and chip.

Prohibited actions include:

Cutting the course
Taking shortcuts
Entering from unauthorized points
Running with counterfeit or another athlete’s bib

Violations lead to disqualification and possible civil or criminal liability.

Throwing objects in starting grids or on the course is forbidden and may result in legal consequences.

Liability Waiver

Participation in the marathon is potentially risky. By registering, athletes accept all risks (falls, collisions, weather, traffic, road conditions, etc.) and release the organizing committee and associated entities from liability.

Disclaimer

While the organizers strive for a successful event, they decline responsibility for damages to persons or property before, during, or after the race.

The organizing committee reserves the right to modify these regulations for force majeure.

For matters not covered here, WA/FIDAL rules apply.

Final Notices

The organizing committee may modify these regulations for organizational reasons, subject to FIDAL approval.
