REGULATIONS

The sports club A.S.D. Polisportiva Marsala Doc, under the patronage of the Municipality of Marsala and the aegis of FIDAL, organizes the 3rd Edition of the “Sigel Marsala Marathon – Città Garibaldina” – a 42.195 km road race.

The race, included in the FIDAL National Calendar, will take place in Marsala on Sunday, April 18, with the gathering of officials and athletes scheduled from 07:00 AM to 08:00 AM in Piazza della Vittoria, where the race will start at 08:30 AM.

Bib and race pack collection will take place on Saturday, April 17, from 03:00 PM to 07:30 PM, and on Sunday morning, April 18, from 07:00 AM to 08:00 AM at Piazza della Vittoria in the start/finish area.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Athletes Registered in Italy

In compliance with the FIDAL regulations on event organization, all Italian and foreign athletes who are 20 years old as of December 31, 2026, and who belong to one of the following categories, may participate:

Athletes registered for 2027 with clubs affiliated with FIDAL.
Athletes holding a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete), limited to persons aged 20 and older. Participation is subject to:
- a) Presenting a valid medical certificate of eligibility for competitive athletics, which must be shown to the organizers in its original form and a copy kept on file by the organizing club. For non-resident foreign athletes, the medical certificate can be issued in their home country, but it must include the same examinations required by Italian law: a) medical examination; b) complete urinalysis; c) electrocardiogram (ECG) at rest and after exercise; d) spirometry.
Athletes registered with a Sports Promotion Enterprise (Athletics Section) holding a Runcard-EPS. Participation is subject to holding the "RUNCARD" and:
- a) Presenting a valid medical certificate of eligibility for competitive athletics (same original verification, tracking, and home-country criteria for non-residents as mentioned above).

Athletes Not Registered in Italy

Italian or foreign athletes not registered in Italy, limited to persons aged 20 and older (by birth year), may participate if they meet one of the following requirements:

Athletes holding a club membership card from Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics (WA). At the time of registration, they must present either:
- A self-certification of holding a WA-recognized membership card. This self-certification must then be signed in its original form when collecting the race bib.
Athletes holding a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete), limited to persons aged 20 and older. Participation is subject to holding the "RUNCARD" and:
- a) Presenting a valid medical certificate of eligibility for competitive athletics (same original verification and mandatory multi-test medical criteria for non-residents as detailed under the domestic section).

Age Categories

Athletes will be registered into their respective age groups in accordance with FIDAL regulations.

Participation Notes

In compliance with health, sports, and safety regulations, unregistered runners and anyone without an official race bib will not be allowed to run on the race course. Anyone found in violation will be strictly ordered to leave the course.
Coaches or other companions are strictly forbidden from accompanying athletes on bicycles or any other vehicles along the course, under penalty of disqualification of the involved athletes and reporting of unauthorized individuals to the judicial authorities.
The event will be supervised by the Trapani Race Officials Group (Gruppo Giudici Gara di Trapani). Every athlete will receive an electronic chip that must be worn throughout the race.
All participants can download a free digital participation diploma from the website www.endu.net.

ENTRY FEES AND REGISTRATION

Until December 31, 2026: €30.00
From January 1, 2027, to February 22, 2027: €35.00
From February 23, 2027, to March 23, 2027: €40.00
From March 24, 2027, to April 12, 2027: €50.00

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ABSOLUTELY ON MONDAY, APRIL 12.

Active Promotion

Every club can take advantage of a special promotion reserved exclusively for Marathon registrants, called 4+1. The club will receive one free bib as soon as it reaches four paying registrants. Each club can receive a maximum of one free bib. This promotion is valid until March 23, 2027.

Registration Process

Registration opens on September 30, 2026, and must be completed online via www.endu.net.
No registrations will be accepted on race day.
Payments can be made via credit card, bank transfer, and other systems accepted by the portal.
Registrations missing the entry fee, FIDAL card number, or medical certificate (the latter for RUNCARD holders only) will not be accepted.
In all cases listed above, the date of the actual payment transaction will be considered legally binding, not the date the registration request was sent.
It is possible to transfer registration to another race before the final registration deadline, subject to a secretariat fee of €10.00. No price differences will be refunded.

SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE ENTRY FEE

Finisher medal for all athletes who cross the finish line.
Race pack and event gadget.
Intermediate fluid stations along the course providing hermetically sealed bottles of water; additionally, starting from km 21, mineral salts and fruit will be distributed at refreshment stations.
Refreshment station at the finish line.
Medical assistance with ambulances and a doctor on board.
Personalized race bib for those who register by March 31.
Timing and ranking services via EvoData srl microchips.
Restrooms and chemical toilets in the start/finish area.
Participation diploma downloadable from www.endu.net.

GATHERING – BIB, CHIP & RACE PACK COLLECTION

Bibs with an attached, disposable chip and race packs will be delivered in individual envelopes to each registered athlete.
The medal will be awarded at the finish line to every athlete who completes the race.
Saturday, April 17 (03:00 PM – 07:30 PM): Collection of bibs and, where possible, race packs at Piazza della Vittoria.
Sunday, April 18 (07:00 AM – 08:00 AM): Collection of bibs at Piazza della Vittoria.

RACE RULES & TIMING

Race Start: Scheduled for 08:30 AM.
Maximum Course Time: 6 hours. Beyond this limit, the organization cannot guarantee complete closure of the race course to vehicle traffic.
Timing Chip: Distributed with the bibs, this time-tracking chip must be worn throughout the entire race, under penalty of disqualification.

Course Rules

Most of the route will be closed to vehicle traffic. Sections that cannot be fully closed will be effectively monitored by the Municipal Police, Law Enforcement, Volunteer Associations, and Individual Volunteers. The race will be officially overseen by the FIDAL Race Officials Group.

Timing and Rankings

Rankings will be processed by EvoData s.r.l. All chips must be returned at the finish line.

Awards

The award ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 PM in Piazza della Vittoria. Prizes are cumulative. The following will be awarded:

Overall Women's Category: 1st Place: €400 | 2nd Place: €200 | 3rd Place: €100
Overall Men's Category: 1st Place: €400 | 2nd Place: €200 | 3rd Place: €100
FIDAL Age Groups: The top three athletes in all male and female FIDAL categories.
Club Award: Special recognition to the club with the highest total number of registered athletes, combining both marathon and half-marathon participants.

Note: If a prize is not collected during the official ceremony, the organizing club is no longer obligated to deliver it.

Complaints

Any complaints or appeals must be submitted in compliance with FIDAL and R.T.I. rules.

Force Majeure & Race Cancellation

If the race is canceled and/or postponed to another date, or otherwise not held due to circumstances beyond the organizers' control (including the revocation of permits by competent Public Authorities), registered athletes shall have no claim against A.S.D. Marsala DOC for entry fee refunds or reimbursement of any expenses incurred. Submitting the registration form constitutes full acceptance of this clause and an express waiver of any claims, damages, or compensations resulting from cancellation or postponement. However, in the event of cancellation/postponement, the registration can be used for the newly established date or transferred to the following year's edition.

Data Processing

In accordance with Article 13 of Legislative Decree no. 196 of June 30, 2003, participants are informed that:

Personal data requested in the registration form is collected for event entry, entry lists, rankings, historical archives, executing services stated in the regulations, and sending promotional materials regarding the Marsala Marathon 2027 or its partners.
Failure to provide the required data will result in non-admission to the event.
Rights regarding personal data processing are listed under Article 7 of the aforementioned decree. Participants may consult, modify, or request the deletion of their data free of charge by writing to the data processor at A.S.D. Marsala DOC.

Image Rights

By registering for the Marsala Marathon 2027, the athlete expressly grants the organization and its partners the free right to use still or moving images in which they may appear during the event. This includes usage on all visual media, promotional materials, and advertising worldwide, for the maximum duration permitted by applicable laws, regulations, and treaties, including any future extensions. Data will be processed in compliance with EU Regulation no. 2016/679 ("GDPR") and used exclusively for the purposes stated in the privacy policy published on www.marsalamarathon.it.

Athlete Responsibility

Bib Custody: Registered runners are responsible for ownership and safekeeping of their race bib. Displaying the bib guarantees access to all event services.
Course Cutting Prohibited: Taking shortcuts, cutting the established route, or joining the race from any point other than the official starting line is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply will lead to immediate disqualification and full liability for any damages caused to third parties.
Unregistered Runners (No Bib): Anyone running without being officially registered and without a bib will be held fully liable for any damages to people or property (including themselves), will face sports sanctions from federal bodies, and may face criminal prosecution under current laws.
Bib Fraud: Anyone participating with a counterfeit, altered, or unassigned bib (e.g., running with someone else's bib) will face sports sanctions and potential criminal prosecution. Violations may be verified using official photographic and video documentation.
Starting Grids & Littering: Entering a starting grid other than the one assigned is strictly prohibited. Throwing t-shirts, jackets, or any other objects inside the starting grids or onto the race track is forbidden, as it may cause tripping or falls for trailing athletes. Violators will be held liable for civil and criminal damages.

Declaration of Responsibility

“I declare that I know and respect the regulations of the 'Marsala Marathon 2027', published on the website www.marsalamarathon.it, in accordance with current Fidal regulations. I know that participating in the 'Marsala Marathon 2027' and/or sporting events in general is a potentially risky activity. I declare that I register voluntarily and assume all risks arising from my participation in the event: falls, contact with vehicles, with other participants, spectators or others, weather conditions including scorching heat, extreme cold and/or humidity, traffic and road conditions, every type of risk well known and evaluated by me. Being aware of the above, and in consideration of the acceptance of my registration, I, on my own behalf and in the interest of no one else, release and free the Organizing Committee of the 'Marsala Marathon 2027', the A.S.D. Marsala DOC, the promoting bodies, the Municipal Administration of Marsala, the Regional Administration of Sicily, all the event Sponsors, and their respective representatives, successors, officers, directors, members, agents, and employees of the aforementioned companies, from all present and future claims or liabilities of any kind, known or unknown, arising from my participation in the event.”

Disclaimer of Liability

The organizing society declines any and all liability for personal injury or property damage occurring before, during, or after the race. The event is insured according to current regulations. Registration automatically implies full acceptance of these regulations. For anything not covered here, FIDAL/WA specific regulations and relevant national laws shall apply. The Race Officials Group may disqualify athletes who do not pass through the official timing detection checkpoints located along the course. The organizing club reserves the right to modify any clause of these regulations at any time due to force majeure.

Final Warnings

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify these regulations at any time to improve the event, following communication to and approval from FIDAL. Any changes to services, locations, or schedules will be promptly communicated to registered athletes or posted on the website: jimdo.com. Essential race day info and documentation will also be delivered to participants alongside their race bibs.
