REGULATIONS

The sports club A.S.D. Polisportiva Marsala Doc, under the patronage of the Municipality of Marsala and the aegis of FIDAL, organizes the “12th Half Marathon Città Garibaldina” – a 21.097 km road race.

The event serves as the 5th stage of the 25th Sicily Half Marathon Grand Prix.

The race is included in the FIDAL National Calendar as a Bronze level event. It will take place in Marsala on Sunday, April 18, with the gathering of race officials and athletes scheduled from 07:00 AM to 08:00 AM.

Bib and race pack collection can be done on Saturday, April 17, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM. Those unable to do so can collect them on Sunday, April 18, from 07:00 AM to 08:00 AM in Piazza della Vittoria, near the start/finish area.

• Race Start: 09:30 AM from Piazza della Vittoria.

 

 

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Athletes Registered in Italy

In compliance with the "Rules for the Organization of Non-Stadium Events" issued by FIDAL, Italian and foreign athletes registered in Italy who are 18 years or older may participate in the Grand Prix, provided they meet one of the following requirements:

• Athletes registered for 2027 with clubs affiliated with FIDAL.

• Italian and foreign athletes holding a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete) and athletes registered with a Sports Promotion Enterprise (Athletics section) holding a Runcard-EPS. This is limited to individuals aged 20 and older who possess a valid Medical Certificate of eligibility for competitive Athletics on the date of the race. Participation is subject to submitting this valid medical certificate. It must be attached and sent at the time of registration along with the Runcard and a copy of the bank transfer to the registration management company (EvoData). The certificate must also be presented and delivered to the organizers of the host club to be kept on official file.

 

Athletes Not Registered in Italy

Italian or foreign athletes not registered in Italy who are 18 years or older (by birth year) may participate if they meet one of the following requirements:

• Athletes holding a club membership card from Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics (WA). At the time of registration, they must present a self-certification of holding a WA-recognized membership card. The original copy of this self-certification must be signed in person when collecting the bib.

• Athletes holding a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete), limited to individuals aged 20 and older. In addition to the "RUNCARD", participation is subject to presenting a valid medical certificate of eligibility for competitive athletics. The original must be shown to the organizers, and a copy will be kept on file by the organizing club of each event. For non-resident foreign athletes, the medical certificate can be issued in their home country, but it must include the same medical examinations required by Italian law:

  1. Medical examination

  2. Complete urinalysis

  3. Electrocardiogram (ECG) at rest and after exercise

  4. Spirometry

 

Participation Notes

• In compliance with health, sports, and safety regulations, unregistered runners and anyone without an official race bib will not be allowed to run on the race course. Anyone found in violation will be strictly ordered to leave the course.

• Coaches or other companions are strictly forbidden from accompanying athletes on bicycles or any other vehicles along the course. Violation will result in the disqualification of the involved athletes and the unauthorized individuals will be reported to the judicial authorities.

• The event will be supervised by the Trapani Race Officials Group (Gruppo Giudici Gara di Trapani). Every athlete will receive an electronic chip that must be worn throughout the race.

• All participants can download a free digital participation diploma from the website www.endu.net. [1]

 

 

ENTRY FEES AND REGISTRATION

• Until 12:00 AM (Midnight) on FRIDAY, MARCH 29: The entry fee is Euro 22 (race gadget included).

• From MARCH 30 to APRIL 12: The entry fee is Euro 27 (race gadget guaranteed).

• Registration Deadline: Monday, April 12, at 12:00 AM (Midnight).

Note: In all cases listed above, the date of the actual payment transaction will be considered legally binding, not the date the registration request was sent.

 

Registration Process

• For athletes participating in the full marathon, their split time over the first 21.0975 km will count toward all final rankings of the Half Marathon Grand Prix (individual, club, bonus, etc.), provided that they complete the full marathon.

• Registration can be submitted online through the portal: endu.net or by sending an email to marsalahalfmaraton@evodata.it. [1]

• ATTENTION: Athletes who qualify for the reserved starting grid (based on minimum times achieved in the 2026 and 2027 seasons: 1h24’40” for the men's half marathon and 1h35’30” for the women's half marathon) must state their Personal Best at the time of registration. Failure to indicate this time will forfeit automatic placement in the reserved grid.

RACE START

• Start Time: Scheduled for 09:30 AM.

• Maximum Course Time: 2 hours and 50 minutes.

• Timing Chip: A time-tracking chip will be issued to each competitor along with their race bib. It must be worn throughout the entire race, under penalty of disqualification.

 

TIMING AND RANKINGS

Rankings and data processing will be managed by EvoData s.r.l.

 

AWARDS

The award ceremony will begin at 12:30 PM. The following prizes will be awarded:

• Overall Women's Category: 1st Place: €150 | 2nd Place: €100 | 3rd Place: €50

• Overall Men's Category: 1st Place: €150 | 2nd Place: €100 | 3rd Place: €50

• FIDAL Age Groups: The top three athletes in all male and female FIDAL categories.

• Club Award: Special recognition to the sports club with the highest total number of registered athletes, combining both the marathon and half-marathon participants.

Note: If a prize is not collected during the official award ceremony, the organizing club is no longer obligated to deliver it.

 

COMPLAINTS

Any complaints or appeals must be submitted in strict compliance with FIDAL and R.T.I. (Technical International Regulations) rules.

 

FORCE MAJEURE & RACE CANCELLATION

If the race is canceled and/or postponed to another date, or otherwise not held due to circumstances beyond the organizers' control (including the revocation of permits by competent Public Authorities), registered athletes shall have no claim against ASD Marsala Doc for entry fee refunds or reimbursement of any expenses incurred. Registration for the race constitutes full acceptance of this clause and an express waiver of any claims resulting from cancellation. However, should any of these conditions occur, registered athletes will automatically have their registration transferred to the 2028 edition.

 

DATA PROCESSING

In accordance with Article 13 of Legislative Decree no. 196 of June 30, 2003, participants are informed that:

• Personal data requested in the registration form is collected for event entry, entry lists, rankings, historical archives, executing the services stated in the regulations, and sending promotional materials regarding the SIGEL MARSALA HALF MARATHON 2027 or its partners.

• Failure to provide the required data will result in non-admission to the event.

• Rights regarding personal data processing are listed under Article 7 of the aforementioned decree. Participants may consult, modify, or request the deletion of their data free of charge by writing to the data processor at A.S.D. Marsala DOC.

 

IMAGE RIGHTS

By registering for the 12th SIGEL MARSALA HALF MARATHON, the athlete expressly grants the organization and its media partners the free right to use still or moving images in which they may appear during the event. This includes usage on all visual media, promotional materials, and advertising worldwide, for the maximum duration permitted by applicable laws, regulations, and treaties, including any future extensions.

 

ATHLETE RESPONSIBILITY

• Bib Custody: Registered runners are solely responsible for ownership and safekeeping of their race bib. Displaying the bib guarantees access to all event services.

• Course Cutting Prohibited: Winding, taking shortcuts, or joining the race from any point other than the official starting line is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply will lead to immediate disqualification and full liability for any damages caused to third parties.

• Unregistered Runners (No Bib): Anyone running without being officially registered and without a bib will be held fully liable for any damages to people or property (including themselves), will face sports sanctions from federal bodies, and may face criminal prosecution under current laws.

• Bib Fraud: Anyone participating with a counterfeit, altered, or unassigned bib (e.g., running with someone else's bib) will face sports sanctions and potential criminal prosecution. Violations may be verified using official photographic and video documentation.

• Starting Grids & Littering: Entering a starting grid other than the one assigned is strictly prohibited. Throwing t-shirts, jackets, or any other objects inside the starting grids or onto the race track is forbidden, as it may cause tripping or falls for trailing athletes. Violators will be held liable for civil and criminal damages.

 

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

While actively striving for the success of the event, the organizing committee declines any and all liability for personal injury or property damage occurring before, during, or after the race. The organization reserves the right to modify any clause of these regulations at any time due to force majeure, subject to FIDAL approval. Registration automatically implies full acceptance of these regulations. For anything not covered here, the General Rules of FIDAL and the General Regulations of the 2027 Sicily Half Marathon Grand Prix shall apply.

 

FINAL WARNINGS

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify these regulations at any time to improve the event, following communication to and approval from FIDAL. Any changes to services, locations, or schedules will be promptly communicated to registered athletes or posted on the official website: http://www.marsalamarathon.it. Essential race day information and documentation will also be delivered to participants alongside their race bibs.
